Denmark is a constitutional monarchy under the constitution of 1849. The head of state is the queen (king), the unicameral parliament (folketing), the supreme legislative body elected by the people, actually runs the country. The government is headed by the Prime Minister. The full name of the country is the Kingdom of Denmark, in Danish – Kongeriget Danmark. The Kingdom includes Greenland and the Faroe Islands, which enjoy considerable autonomy. The official language is Danish. Also used: English, German, French.
